This story focuses on ALTAR--a dramatic, deceptive and tenacious drag queen--and Altar’s chosen family--a coven of novice witches who run queer nightlife in the Biible Belt, operating the effervescent Trance Nightclub--while secretly practicing witchcraft to enrich their lives and community with magical extravaganza. But when a homophobic serial killer stalks their city, the fun-loving witches must get deadly serious: unraveling a twisted supernatural mystery, clashing with witch and human law enforcement alike, and becoming unlikely heroes in a centuries-old struggle with Satanic forces.

Raised on meatballs and repression along the Jersey Shore, Joey Capuana (he/they) is an LA-based screenwriter and 2019 WGAE “MADE IN NY” TV Writing Fellow. After studying Film and Television at Northwestern University, Joey served as Writers' PA on Netflix's NARCOS and F IS FOR FAMILY before developing pilots and features under the mentorship of showrunner Soo Hugh (THE TERROR, PACHINKO). Joey specializes in dark comedy, animation, and genre stories that mix raunch and shock with sincerity and heart, while exploring queer and provocative takes on identity and desire.
